I am the Battalion Signal Officer for the 2d Ranger Battalion at Fort Lewis, WA. Truly a once in a lifetime job. Unbelievable the things we do, the caliber of people I work with, etc. The Pacific Northwest is a great place to be as well, if you can get over the rain. I have been here since DEC 95. Will probably stay until early 98 and then I will go to Fort Bragg for my next assignment. Lots of VMI guys there, including my former roomate Brian Burchette. He just got there and is a Brigade S-4 in a unit in the Corps Support Command. He's doing great. He tells me he has seen Tim Haynie and Chip McWilliams since he's been there. I am sure there are a lot of other guys from school there.

Last summer I went to a VMI Alumni Party at a guys house named Bill McDowell. Everything in his house was VMI oriented, even his dog's name was Virginia Milly. All his cars had VMI customized plates. Turns out he is a senior vice president at Microsoft. Great to see someone doing that well. It was really a good time. Scott Spellmeyer is a company commander at Fort Hood and things are going well for him. Recently I was on the aircraft carrier USS John F Kennedy and ran into a VMI guy class of 87 (Upton).
